Purpose:

For Shawano High School jazz musicians (as of the 2024 school year), to aid the advancement of their music education outside of the classroom setting.

 

Applicants:

• Must currently be in grades 8-11 within the Shawano School District

• Students are eligible to win in multiple years, but preference will be given to first-time applicants

Shell Lake

Shell Lake offers a 5-day stay-over jazz camp, just north of Eau Claire, WI. Whether you’re just starting out studying jazz, or are an accomplished,  passionate performer continuing your studies, this camp is for you!  All levels of experience are accepted-from beginner to advanced. Students receive a personal private placement screening on Sunday when they arrive in Shell Lake.  They are matched with others of the same abilities and technical skills.

• Jazz I: June 16 - 21, 2024

• Jazz II: June 23 - 28, 2024

 

Cost per Shawano student will not exceed $100. SJF is providing non-instrument specific scholarship funding in conjunction with a Shell Lake scholarship for Shawano music students entering grades 8-12.

 

UW-Stevens Point (Point Music Camp)

This week-long stay-over camp, formerly known as Camp COFAC, (date tbd) is open to all instrumental students (jazz band and concert band). Students focus on their specific instrument during the morning session, and then participate in large group rehearsals in the afternoon.

Cost per Shawano student will not exceed $100. SJF is providing scholarship funding in conjunction with a UWSP scholarship for Shawano music students entering grades 9-12.​

 

Private Lessons Scholarship 

 The newest addition to our Shawano Jazz Foundation scholarship list, we are offering a scholarship towards private lessons. SJF is providing $300 in scholarship funding for Shawano music students to aid in the cost of private music lessons.
